How to see a doctor

  1. In an emergency, call 112

An ambulance crew comes free of charge to anyone in Georgia, including foreigners: this is set by the state emergency care programme for 2026. The 112 operator can answer in English or Russian. Hospital treatment after the ambulance is not free: you or your insurance pay.

  2. Choose a clinic

Large private clinics with an official website:

TbilisiEvex polyclinic network, Aversi Clinic, Todua Clinic, New Hospitals, American Hospital Tbilisi, MediClub Georgia, Gudushauri National Medical Center, American Medical Centers, A Clinic.
BatumiEvex Clinic (20 Khimshiashvili Street), American Medical Centers, BAU International Hospital with 24-hour emergency care, Medina Medical Centre, Khozrevanidze Clinic, University Clinic of Innovative Medicine, Batumi Republican Clinical Hospital.
  3. Book an appointment

You can book by phoning the clinic. You can book online on the websites of Evex, Aversi Clinic, Todua Clinic, New Hospitals, American Hospital Tbilisi, MediClub Georgia, American Medical Centers and A Clinic, and through these services: EKIMO (the Evex app, with online payment), YDoc (in Russian, Tbilisi and Batumi, with reviews), BigMed (in Russian, Tbilisi only for now), Tsamali.ge (in Georgian).

  4. Ask for an English- or Russian-speaking doctor

Patients say that if you mention the language straight away, reception will find a Russian-speaking doctor and call you back. Fewer doctors speak Russian than English, so ask in advance. Todua Clinic, New Hospitals, American Hospital Tbilisi, the Gudushauri centre, A Clinic, Medina, Khozrevanidze Clinic and the University Clinic of Innovative Medicine have websites in Russian.

  5. Ask the price before your appointment

Not all clinics publish prices on their websites. As a guide, a GP appointment at a regular private clinic starts at 50–70 ₾ (Just Advisors, 2025); clinics for expats charge more. As of September 2026, at A Clinic a GP appointment costs 150 ₾ for 40 minutes, a cardiologist 150 ₾ and a gynaecologist 150–180 ₾; a complete blood count costs 22 ₾ at Synevo (currently discounted to 19.80 ₾) and 25 ₾ at MEGALAB. We found no published prices for doctor's appointments in Batumi, so check by phone.

  6. For a dentist, compare price lists

Dental prices can differ several-fold. Tbilisi: treating a cavity costs $60 at UltraDent, $75 at Astra Dental and from 170 ₾ at Blits Dental; professional cleaning $75–95 or 70–265 ₾; an implant without a crown from $350 at UltraDent and from $368 at Astra Dental. Batumi, Your Dentist clinic: consultation 70–80 ₾, treating a cavity 300–350 ₾, an implant 1,800 ₾ and a crown for it 1,350 ₾.

Family doctor under the state programme with a residence permit

Some consultants write that with a residence permit you can register with a family doctor at a state polyclinic. The Ministry of Health has not clarified this. The universal state programme is for citizens, people with stateless status, refugees, people with supplementary protection and registered asylum seekers; Resolution No. 655 gives people who live in Georgia permanently access only to some separate programmes.

Higher prices for foreigners

In 2023, T—Zh (Tinkoff Journal) wrote about a "normal price + 25%" rule for foreigners at clinics. We found no legal act on this. Ask what you will be charged when you book. If you are insured with Unison, note that it reimburses foreigners at the prices charged to citizens, so your insurance will not cover the mark-up.
